Join us for a one-day intensive and fun workshop on the GOG, GOM, GOB methods of creating mosaics. Led by Sandy Robertson, an experienced mosaic artist and teacher with over 20 years of teaching experience, this beginner-level workshop is perfect for those who want to learn mosaic art or develop their existing skills.
In this workshop, you will add a stained glass mosaic design to the front of a mini glass vase, mirror base & light-weight board. The project bases and glass tesserae are a mix of stained glass, bottle glass, glass gems, smalti, vitreous tiles, clear glass, and mixed media. You will learn various techniques, including how to cut glass, apply glue, use patterns, create special effects, and apply grout. Students will learn to shape the mirror substrate and light weight board prep! Lots to learn. Once you learn the techniques you may work on one of your sampler bases or across all 3. If you finish you may grout or otherwise watch grouting demos. We will provide grout to take home.
This one-day class costs $175.00 (incl gst) and includes all mosaic materials and patterns. Bring your own lunch, and a list of what to bring, parking info, etc. will be emailed to you after booking. The class will be held on Saturdays, the next being: 29th July, from 9 am to 5.30 pm. A non refundable $50 deposit is required to secure your place.
This workshop is intensive and fun.
We cram all the info we can into this day so you leave equipped with the knowledge to make larger mosaics!
A sampler based class allows more technique to be taught. During the class, once you have nailed the glass on glass skills, added a little to each base, you may work across the 3 sampler bases or work on one base and try out others at home. Grouting demo provided.
If you don't get to complete your mosaic vase, sufficent black grout will be provided to take home to finish grouting and an online video will be available at the MOS in due course.
