The mosaic kickstart class.  

Everything you need to know to start making beautiful mosaics.

Create a mosaic trivet using mosaic glass vitreous tiles and sample cutting folder of tips.
This workshop is intensive and fun.  
Take home a completed, grouted mosaic. 
Gain skills to make your own mosaic project at home, using the direct or mosaic mesh method.   
There is more than meets the eye in this project - so many UNIQUE mosaic tips and tricks in Sandy's beginner workshop.

So much info is packed into making this mosaic in one day!   This project has been the starting point for so many students. The trivet may be small, but the knowledge and experience you take away with you are worth its weight in gold! The project design and pattern are pre-determined.

You have the rest of your mosaic life to spend drawing and designing - these workshops teach you skills and you apply the skills to your own art at home. After completing this class, you may wish to book into the Mosaic Butterfly Weekend, the Mosaic Floristry Weekend (pique assiette).
Our selected MOSaic Addict Tuesdays (see dates in menu) are wonderful to form mosaic friendships, gain more mosaic skills, fun and creative therapy!

What is covered in this mosaic workshop?

• mosaic on mesh method - you will love it!
• pre-sealing & final sealing of the base and mosaic surface
• selecting substrates/bases suitable for mosaics
• health & safety
  
• tools - use a variety of mosaic tools, nippers, scorers, hammer & hardie, wheeled nippers Leponitt, tile files etc.
• cutting and shaping tesserae - take home a folder of cutting samples
• tesserae - mosaic glass tiles, mirror and test out samples of other materials
• grouting - how to choose the best colour for your mosaic and types of grouts
• pattern is provided
• mosaic technique (andamento & opus)
• adhesives - Weldbond, Prep Glue, Epoxy Paste, Thinset (cement-based adhesive)
• setting up a work area - amazing tips!
• planning and preparation
• storage
• tips & tricks & so much more! 

Sandy will guide you on mosaic methods as you learn to nip and nibble, glue and paste, grout and polish! You will learn to select grout colours and what effect the grout colour and grout lines have on your works of art. At the end of the day, you will take home a small, grouted trivet - this mosaic will serve as a sample to remind you of the mesh method process.  Even if you have dabbled in mosaics or done other mosaic courses, you will benefit greatly from OzMosaics Introduction to Mosaics Sandy Style, beginner class.

I have just travelled from New Zealand to attend the Beginner and Advanced Mosaic Course run by Sandy Robertson.

I had previous knowledge of mosaics, HOWEVER when I did the beginners course, I realised how little I really knew and how much I struggled with simple things. It was amazing the information that was so freely shared with the group. We were all like bits of blotting paper soaking up all the knowledge that was being imparted to us in such an animated and structural way.
The Advanced Course - wow!! is all I can say. How enlightening how absolutely fantastic, fabulous and inspiring.
Sandy provided a professional, personable and safe learning environment and gave to each of us on an individual basis. Her love and enthusiasm for mosaics were infectious.
I not only gained back my "mojo" I gained a wonderful friend in both Sandy and Dave who looked after me so well. Dave, you need cloning you looked after us so well.
