Mosaic Mesh Method - Sandy Style!
Book into OzMosaics Coorparoo mosaic workshop to learn all about the mosaic mesh method in a fabulous, fun and friendly mosaic atmosphere. Sandy has refined this method over the last 20 years to bring you the best tips and tricks.
Why use the mosaic mesh method?
- You may work over a design.Draw or print your design on paper, cover with plastic and draw outline on mesh if necessary for a better view.
You don't need to draw your design directly onthe substrate (base). This saves much time.
-The tiles (tesserae) are adhered directly onto fibreglass mesh which is then set into a bed of cement based adhesive.
You are fabricating your mosaic using the direct method on the mesh.
- Make easy mosaic edits! It's easy to change the colour or shape of your tesserae! Just lift off mesh and replace, reshape etc.
- Work in mosaic jigsaw-style segments and appliques.
Cut the mesh into sections before you start the mosaic or cut down after you have completed the mosaic on the mesh.
- Work away from the project location.
-The mosaic can be prepared in your work environment and then cut down and transported to the site for installation.
-It's great for mosaics which are vertical or in difficult to access areas - splashbacks, pool walls, large tables, mosaic murals, floors, fireplaces etc.
- Multiple individuals can work on the same mosaic easily. Great for community and school projects.
- You will love working in the mosaic mesh method.
