Biloela Community Mosaic Workshop

mosaic-advanced-workshopBack from Biloela!
Last weekend Dave and Sandy travelled to Biloela. We left Brisbane early on the Friday morning and thoroughly enjoyed the drive out to rural Queensland.  Beautiful and green, the blue hills, graceful gums and friendly Pastry Shops (!!) offered lots of photo opportunities.

We arrived safe and sound late afternoon and Gail and Roger welcomed us to their lovely home in Biloela.  There is nothing quite like Queensland Country hospitality - a cozy room with delightful quilt, a delicious dinner and great conversation.

We unpacked the Prado and set up at the Show Grounds.  So much space and a mosaic teacher's dream, enough tables to hold all the "stuff" needed to do a 3-D mosaic "Floriade" workshop, Sandy style. Thanks so much Biloela!

1-opportunity-shopWe welcomed the students on the Saturday morning and worked non-stop all day Saturday and Sunday.  The students were all mosaic beginners, but you would never know it, by their works of art that emerged from boxes of china, vitreous mosaic tile, mirror, smalti, thinset and more! So proud of all the students. Well done!

We enjoyed a Thai dinner at the local with Amanda, and discussed an upcoming mosaic project for Theodore. A lovely evening all round.

We drove home on the Monday and had another very enjoyable road trip.  Wish we could have stayed longer and attended the Biloela show coming up soon.

This week Shelly, Lauren (my 2 daugher-in-law to be!) DILTB... helped made 110 wedding mosaic coasters and they look gorgeous.  Exciting with Shelly and Mark's wedding in two weeks time.

Back to back workshops here Saturday and Sunday, so off now to completed the set up for workshop A, beginner and Workshop B Advanced.  Looking forward to greeting our student from New South Wales who will stay with us until Monday!

Happy mosaic making!
