Somewhere in the mosaic studio..

Somewhere, amongst millions of tiles is a box of mosaic stone square tiles.  I have searched the last hour for them and will get Dave to take a look around the studio and learning centre.

I know they are somewhere, but I havent had them out for a few months and so many other projects have been stacked up I have "hidden" them from myself somehow.  Very frustrating.  I will have to "not look for them" so they will turn up.  Annoying though, as i need to cut half the box of tiles into halves and then run each cut over a file/brick for borders and interwoven sections in the murals.  grrrrr.

I am getting a cup of tea and will progress with the rest of the murals.  If they are lost in my studio, I will use something else, but i want these lovely, chalky looking, creamy, difficult to cut tiles, very badly.  LOL!  Here tiles, nice tiles....where are you?

Whilst look for the box, (don't you hate it when you can see the lost item in your mind's eye??) I found other interesting things and almost had a mosaic fit of excitement when I found some cartons of my blue precious china and pink china.  Ooohhh how i would love to being working on a dreamy mirror or decorating a boulder at the moment.  Never mind, that's for later, perhaps on mosaic addicts days here.

Looking at an old print under glass, reminds me of my teenager years;  an old Van Gough paint by numbers painting kit.....a pile of old framed paintins and prints are in the office area waiting for sorting.... good memories...ideas popping up.  Might check out on Google and plan an old master's workshop of one of the Van Gough bridges, good piece for students to learn and something different. Will check out copyright options/public realm on a few old masters next month and work in some mosaic workshops where permitted.  Portrait workshop this year will be good and different.  Couldn't fit it all in last year, will see how we go this this.

I have the making of all my mosaics for MOSI for interested students, in dowloadable and non-downloadable modules.   Quite a range of mosaic methods and projects;  quite nostalgic.

Anyway, onwards and forwards;  find these tiles, get the nun's headwear done this afternoon.  I selected the deep, dark blue Dynasty Smalti and lighter blue tones and vibrant cherry reds for the ribbon holding the Cross.

It's very hot and humid, might be time for another swim.  Hot cuppa sounds good too.  Weird isn't it how a hot cup of tea is so refreshing in hot weather.  I don't drink the cold tea, that mum likes....

Back to the workbench.  Kettle just boiled. All in the day of a mosaic artist;  even though it's Sunday, I feel so good getting this work done, it's likea little holiday from stress;  ie: do it, don't think about it.  Staying away from Facebook as much as I can, just checking in when I stop to stretch away from the mosaics.  A little walk away from the workbench, gives me a fresh mosaic eye on return.

Cheers~!
