This year is simply flying by
- so many projects on the go and non-stop workshops! Thanks so much everyone for your support of OzMosaics. Dave and I appreciate you all very much.
Book into OzMosaics Smalti Australia workshops, Beginner workshops, Advanced and there is a one week September 2013 workshop filling very fast!
OzMosaics loves Dyansty Smalti!i - We have lots of stock - it's affordable, over 264 colours, with a mix of modern and antique shades! The antique colour chart will have you rushing to make mosaic portraits. The Dyansty smalti is based on mosaic shades of the Byzantine era. Luminous, soft and perfect for skin tones or when you want a softness in your smalti glass. Browse the stock in our online store or ring for an appointment at our Coorparoo Studio shop.
The modern smalti is strong and bold in colour and it is wonderful to mix up and create stunning mosaics.
Sandy will teach you how to "spread your smalti further" and work your smalti glass into tinted thinsets and more.
Even if Byzantine style mosaics are not your mosaic cup of tea - learning the smalti traditional techniques will give you more depth in your contemporary mosaic design. Imagine incredible mosaic eyes, delicate hibiscus blooms - come and get into shading and colour technique in mosaic mixed media.
Check info in the Workshop & Classes menu. 2013 has been jam packed with booked out classes all year.
Sandy's students are addicted to mosaics and the smalti classes have been wonderful!
Students have skills to create traditional mosaics, using andamento/opus techniques.
Create and make your own take on the Byzantine style of mosaic and add a contemporary twist. The students created some fabulous mosaic "eyes" or little creatures and have taken the mosaics home to continue the mini masterpieces.
It's amazing - delving into the colour wheel helps bring out the beauty of colour blends in your mosaics. Sandy covers this in the smalti class and you will learn how to break down your patterns into mosaic design/traditional style.
Workshops are filling as fast as we list them, which is wonderful and I look forward eagerly to every workshop; many are at OzMosaics Studio and quite a few will be "out and about". Meeting people who love mosaics or who are eager to learn and create their own mosaic artworks is fantastic and together we all grow our love of mosaic art and craft.
Our mosaic web shop is so busy and Dave Robertson, Studio Manager and Customer Service Manager is always on top of the orders and gets them to our customers as quickly as possible.
Our products are diverse, reliable and quality as I use them in my own commissions and workshops and can vouch for them. I experiment with the materials almost on a daily basis and my students love the constant flow of mosaic tips and tricks.
MOSI (Mosaic Online School International) is progressing well and hopefully be online sometime late 2013/2014.
Sandy's Mosaic Guru/Wizard of mOz collection of mosaic tips/tricks, videos, mosaics in the making/tuition/class notes is extensive and members of MOSI will be able to view and learn online, together with the upcoming MOSI mosaic forum and Community MOSI - all built into MOSI.
Cententary mosaic murals in Queensland country towns, mosaic tables, a trip to Canada, mosaic murals, teaching many workshops, artist in residence and wedding mosaics to name a few.
Mosaic memories!
To think, that Easter time 2011 I was busy preparing for our trip to Hong Kong to work on the huge Easter Eggstravaganza exhibition! The huge mural of the skyline of Hong Kong on a gigantic Easter egg made from polystyrene and 12 other decorated eggs in mosaic. It as wonderful and where does time go? Prior to Hong Kong 2011 Feb found me packing to visit Austin, Texas USA for the SAMA conference and then onto Colorada and Utah.... 2012 was so exciting too, with a trip to Christmas Island for a mosaic community workshop/project, mural of the Great Barrier Reef - a mosaic in jelly beans for Jelly Belly Australia, numerous workshops and mosaic commission. Each year presents diverse mosaic projects and simply fly by!
Mosaic with Sandy Robertson - "don't just stand there, break something!"
Mosaic workshops
- beginner to advanced classes and workshops. Commissions, Public Artworks, Community Mosaic Workshops, event projects, reused and recycled art in the community, art from the heart!
