Here' another "Get whacked" at OzMosaics. Sandy has a unique smashing box, which students of mosaics, can easily replicate.
Whilst everyone raves on an on about the awesome Leponitt Mosaic Tile Nippers and Wheeled cutters (yes yes yes!!!!) take a mosaic moment in time and remember the hammer. Not the hammer and old hardie, but the Hammer in your garage! Yes, that trusty tool is nobody's fool. After you prove to the mosaic world at large you are a mosaic smARTi pants and conquer the Leps, the H & H and whatever else you like to nibble, nip and shape with, remember to respect your Grandad's or Nana's hammer. I am a collect of old tools from the depths of garages and sheds.
They tell stories, and if hammers could talk, what a great storyteller they would be. The times Grandad taugh the kids to hammer...the old paling fence he fixed, the homes and repairs....hammering on, soldiering on!
I have the hammers, my collection and I love them. They have made some very fabulous mosaic artworks; yes it's the way you hold your tongue, the mosaic stance, the angle, the way we protect ourselves Sandy Style from hammering harm (except that one time the Popette knows about during the filming of "spin the bottle downunder Sandy Stye!"""....now that was a mosaic minty moment!
Hammering is not a mosaic swear word, it is not just a tool for amateurs but a tool for the mosaic adventurer. I have some "pretty neat tricks and tips" I will share in MOSI in due course. You know I can do it fast and make it last! Wisdom gained over many years of hammering and breaking out awesome artworks. As Jane and I discussed, mosaics are having a revival of purely passionate surface coverings. Yes, do the intricate works, we all love them and admire the cuts and your lovely grout spaces...it all goes hand in hand, but don't mock smash and crash in my studio or you might have to start running!
I must get out the trampoline again, the little one I never use, but had to have in a great pretense of getting fit. We were featured on the telly years ago and the words of the presenter "there's somthing weird happeing behind the fences, the sounds of mosaic music and ",,,, say no more, it was OzMosaics studio and the MAG Brisbane Gals were at it again. It's was such fun and I will put up clip in MOSi for you to laugh at, I have to render it in new format in January or when I get time. Mosaic memories, so precious, so much fun; make your mosaic memories every day... when you work and play.
